The approval for grid connection by Guizhou Power Grid signifies that the Suyuan Qiyuan Energy Storage Project is now “ready to launch.” Tianqi Hongyuan will concentrate its resources to accelerate construction, ensuring grid connection by 2026. This project aims to establish a “Guizhou model” for grid-forming energy storage applications, injecting robust momentum into the green and low-carbon energy transition!
The 300MW/600MWh grid-forming independent energy storage power station project, invested and constructed by Suizhou Qiyuan Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. under Tianqi Hongyuan, has formally received the System Connection Design Report Review Opinion (Qian Grid Research New Energy [2025] No. 90) issued by the New Energy Service Center of Guizhou Power Grid Co., Ltd.
With this, the project has completed the three core prerequisites—filing, land use, and grid connection—and all conditions for full-scale construction are now in place.
Key Grid Connection Approval
Guizhou Power Grid has finalized core details for the project's grid integration, guiding subsequent construction:
Path Planning:
- New 220kV Qiyuan Energy Storage Substation
- 35kV collection line connecting to energy storage station
- New 220kV line connecting to 500kV Shixiang Substation (approx. 0.15km cable) → Expansion of one 220kV bay at Shixiang Substation.
Equipment Configuration: Primary construction phase includes main transformer (300MVA) and SVG reactive power compensation (2×30MVar) at the booster station.
Performance Requirements: Energy storage system must support four-quadrant power control, AGC (Automatic Generation Control), AVC (Automatic Voltage Control), with power factor regulation range of ±0.95.
Grid Standards: Strict compliance with comprehensive technical standards including protection, automation, metering (with high-reliability configuration for main gateways), cybersecurity level protection assessment, and communications.
