Tianqi Hongyuan and Shell China Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Jointly Promote Immersed Liquid-Cooled Energy Storage Technology
June 12, 2025 — Beijing Tianqi Hongyuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Tianqi Hongyuan”) and Shell China formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement at Jiangsu Tongqi New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Tianqi Hongyuan's energy storage production base in Beijing). Moving forward, both parties will focus on collaboration around fully immersed liquid cooling technology and products, jointly developing safer and more efficient energy storage solutions.

Attending the signing ceremony were Wang Ye, Chairman of Tianqi Hongyuan; Li Guoping, Chairman of Jiangsu Tongli Risheng Machinery Co., Ltd.; Shen Cong, Chief Scientist of Tianqi Hongyuan; Yang Jiqiang, Deputy General Manager of the Energy Storage Division; and Zhang Fei, R&D Manager of Tongqi New Energy. The Shell China delegation was led by Wen Hai, General Manager of Lubricants China and Asia Pacific R&D, and included Zhu Nairou, Director of New Business Development for Industrial Lubricants; Zhang Feng, Global Liquid Cooling Technology Manager at Shell (Shanghai) Technology Center; and Wang Huicen, Industrial Lubricants Market Manager.
The core of this collaboration is fully immersed liquid cooling technology. This technology completely submerges core components like batteries in a specialized coolant, enabling more uniform and efficient heat dissipation, thereby significantly enhancing the safety and service life of energy storage systems. Following the agreement signing, attendees jointly toured the Immersion R&D Testing Center at Tongqi New Energy to examine the latest R&D achievements of this technology.
Tianqi Hongyuan possesses extensive experience in energy storage system integration, battery management, and large-scale production, particularly leading the industry in immersive liquid cooling technology applications. Shell, meanwhile, boasts globally leading R&D capabilities in specialty fluids and thermal management solutions, especially for immersive cooling applications.

Wang Ye, Chairman of Tianqi Hongyuan, stated: “Our collaboration with Shell will significantly accelerate the commercialization and global deployment of our high-safety, high-density immersion liquid-cooled energy storage technology. Shell's advanced fluid technology is a key enabler.”
Wen Hai, General Manager of Technology and R&D for Shell Lubricants China and Asia Pacific, remarked: We value Tianqi Hongyuan's strengths in energy storage system integration and immersion technology applications. Shell will contribute our expertise in advanced fluid science and application experience to jointly develop safer, more reliable immersion liquid-cooled energy storage solutions that meet global market demands."
This collaboration aims to combine both parties' strengths in system integration and specialty fluid materials to jointly advance the application and development of immersion liquid-cooled energy storage technology.
